Business architecture plays a pivotal role in aligning the strategic objectives with its operational capabilities. It serves as a blueprint that outlines the structure of the business, including processes, information, and systems, supporting coherence and efficiency. By bridging the gap between strategy and execution, business architecture enables the organisation to effectively translate high-level strategic goals into actionable initiatives. This alignment ensures that resources are optimally utilized to achieve desired outcomes, fosters agility in responding to market changes, and helps identify opportunities for innovation.
Together with business analysts, portfolio managers and program managers, the business architects are regrouped in a central department ‘Strategy Implementation and Transformation Office (SITO)’ team. The profile we are looking for will act as a Business Architect focusing on our Customers, Markets and System (CMS) department. The CMS department manages (amongst others) customer relations, market design, system operations, adequacy, and grid development, supporting a secure, sustainable, and efficient energy transition.
Definition of the target Business Architecture of CMS in line with the vision / strategy defined by the management of the CMS Department; this includes the definition of the required Business Capabilities (organized in Business Capability Maps) to realize the vision / strategy,
Further elaboration and implementation of the the Information Strategy within the CMS Department:
Identification and definition of Data Domains and assignment of Data Owners,
Defining Conceptual Business Information models using the internal standard toolkits,
Determining the required Business Capabilites to implement the target Information Architecture
You will support the introduction of AI at the level of business architecture.
Identification of business products and data products,
You contribute to/lead decision making via business architecture activities(s) at all levels in the organization. For example: you support capability driven steering and priority setting by providing the necessary capability heatmaps.
Take the lead for initiatives to define and validate Business Architecture Blueprints – in collaboration with Domain and Solution Architects with strong involvement of Business Stakeholders and Business Analysts; enable Domain and Solution Architects to define appropriate (digital) solutions,
You will ensure the alignment of the (target) CMS Business Architecture with the other departments (Assets, Strategy, Infra, CDO office, 50Hz, IT)
Ensure alignment of IT architecture and IT roadmap with Business Architecture and Business Roadmap
Actively contribute to the refinement of Architecture methodologies, frameworks, tools and training,
You will animate and/or actively participate in the necessary meetings to ensure the good implementation of the targeted business and data architecture
You will keep abreast of the latest developments.
Ideal Profile
Good level of Dutch and/or French and English is required.
You have at least 10 years’ proven experience in business and information architecture in a similar role.
You hold a degree in civil or commercial engineering or a master's degree in scientific discipline.
Knowledge of Customer, Markets and System activities (utilities sector) is a major advantage.
You are service-oriented with a view to ensuring continuity.
You have excellent soft skills. You are an outstanding stakeholder manager.
You have a solid knowledge of how to define a Business Architecture framework and how to communicate in a comprehensible way to the different stakeholders,
You have a solid understanding of Domain Driven Design (DDD),
You have a solid understanding of Software Integration Patterns, Platform technologies, Data Warehouses, Data Lakes and Data Meshes allowing fluent interaction with colleagues of the IT-department,
You have background and experience with implementations leveraging AI,
Experience in UML, BPMN and Archimate is a must
You have a systemic mind and are an excellent communicator.
You can take the initiative, work independently and coordinate transversal initaitives
