Positioned at the Product Area level. Works in tandem with the Product Leads (business side), serving as the technical coordination counterpart across all product lines. Does not hold hierarchical authority over Tech Leads or developers.
Role purpose
The Tech Coordinator ensures technical coherence, release orchestration, and governance cascade across all product teams within a product area. The role bridges the structural gap between Tech Leads and organisation-level IT governance (CIO, Architecture boards, technical chapters, architects, etc.), ensuring that:
Cross-cutting technical decisions reach product teams and are actioned
Technical dependencies across teams are identified early and managed proactively
Releases are coordinated coherently across the product line
Bottom-up technical risks, debt, and impediments are surfaced to the appropriate decision forums
Core responsibilities
1. Release coordination
Ensure alignment between business delivery commitments (Product Lead/PO level) and technical deployment readiness
Track release health: blockers, environment conflicts, regression risks, rollback readiness
Coordinate across product lines or across areas (e.g.: GD, NCC, etc.) and clusters (e.g.: SAP) for release dependencies
Serve as the escalation point when release conflicts cannot be resolved bilaterally between Tech Leads
2. Cross-Team technical dependency management
Facilitate bilateral resolution between Tech Leads; escalate only when bilateral resolution fails
Maintain a visible, lightweight dependency register updated per release cycle
Coordinate across product lines or across areas (e.g.: GD, NCC, etc.) and clusters (e.g.: SAP) for dependencies & conflicting priorities
3. Technical quality & operational readiness
Support Tech Leads in ensuring quality gates are met before deployment (architecture compliance, testing coverage, security checks)
Ensure run/operate considerations are embedded in release planning — not treated as afterthoughts
Coordinate incident response escalation pathways when issues span multiple product teams within the product line
Bridge to the architecture governance function
Track & monitor applications quality and regressions across the entire product area & drive initiatives for continuous improvement
4. Technical cost & capacity visibility
Aggregate IT cost estimations and profile needs from Tech Leads to support budget and resource planning exercises (5-year OKR, QBR, etc.)
Support the Product Leads with technical input for resource allocation decisions
Requirements
1. Background
A senior technical profile with breadth across the product line's technology stack.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
5–8 years of experience, including min 3 years in leadership roles (management)
Proven experience managing tech leads
Background in complex technical environments with significant team sizes
Deep understanding of release management practices
Exposure to compliance frameworks and proven ability to formalise and implement processes & best practices
Proven experience working in organisations with string product culture & emphasis on creating empowered teams (outcome-driven mindset)
Fluency in English and French or Dutch
2. Must-have behaviours
Coordination through influence, not authority
Bias toward lightweight, bilateral resolution over heavy governance
Transparency: surfaces problems early rather than managing perception
Comfort operating in ambiguity
Ability to hold the tension between business urgency and technical rigour without defaulting to either
